Atoll Advisory was founded on the belief that boutique investment managers should have access to institutional quality operational capability, regardless of their size.To attract institutional capital, boutique investment managers must be able to demonstrate operational excellence. Then as a manager grows, so does complexity. Governance expectations increase, operating models can become constrained, and founders often find themselves balancing operational tasks with their investment responsibilities.While large firms have extensive operational teams, many boutique managers need experienced operational leadership without the cost and commitment of a permanent Chief Operating Officer.Atoll Advisory bridges that gap. Founder
Rob Allin founded Atoll Advisory after spending more than two decades helping investment managers build, scale and institutionalise their businesses. His experience spans the full spectrum of the industry, from boutique formation to global private-market platforms.Throughout his career, Rob has partnered with founders, CEOs and boards to strengthen operating models, launch funds, execute growth strategies and navigate change. He combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution across strategic projects, finance, fund operations, governance, compliance, and risk.Previously, Rob served as Chief Operating Officer of Whitehelm Capital, a €5 billion infrastructure investment manager, where he played a key role in the firm's growth and successful sale to PATRIZIA SE. Following the acquisition, he became a Managing Director at PATRIZIA, leading a 55-person global team responsible for overseeing more than €50bn of assets across 150 funds and mandates.Rob has partnered with eleven boutique managers to date across infrastructure, private debt, private equity, real estate, and listed markets, giving him a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities investment managers face at different lifecycle stages.Rob is a Chartered Accountant (ACMA) and MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, his detailed career history can be found below.
